My love of nature and of the outdoors started at an early age while exploring the Western United States with my family.
I developed a passion for photography in the early 1990’s (well before the digital era) with my first formal photography classes taken at Utah State University.
My inherent curiosity, coupled with the pursuit of additional education, led me to experience a vastly different lifestyle from that to which I had been accustomed. In 2001, I enrolled in graduate school at the University of Chicago. That decision required a move from the Rocky Mountain Region that I had always called home to the metropolitan area of Chicago. Following completion of my studies, I moved to California.
Experiencing life in mountainous, urban, and coastal environments has provided a diversity of experience and culture that has expanded my perspective of the world and what it has to offer.
I have an insatiable appetite to explore, having traveled extensively throughout the US, to over 30 countries and to all seven continents. In my free time, if I am not traveling, I can usually be found in the mountains as it is not uncommon for me to climb/hike several hundred miles annually, as well as to ski, bike, and engage in other forms of outdoor recreation in search of rare photographic images.
Having been privileged to maintain an active recreation calendar and witness so much of the world’s beauty, I attempt to capture the splendor with my camera in order to maintain memories and share the experiences with others. It is my hope that my photographs provide an escape from everyday life while enhancing your appreciation of the world and encouraging the preservation of nature’s beauty.
